Loanda

Length 97metres, beam 13 metres, 2,702 ton steamer with 253hp triple-expansion engines. Built 1891 by the Naval Construction & Armaments Co.

Owned by the Elder Dempster Line, she was on route from Hamburg to West Africa. She sank on 31 May, 1908 whilst under tow after being badly damaged on port side near engine room in collision with Russian steamer Junona.

Lying upright and in reasonable condition. Sweeping and collision damage have exposed her engines. Articles to be found on this wreck include clay pipes, bottles of scent gin, rum etc.

Depth of 20m, 7m proud, 4 miles from Dover. GPS 51° 08' 57" N 01° 24' 43" E  Slack 2 hrs before and 4 hrs after HW Dover.
